　　在为索尼哥伦比亚完成Facebook创始人故事片《社交网站》（TheSocialNetwork）之后，大卫·芬奇（DavidFincher）又将继续和他们合作，拍摄一部讲述美国国际象棋大师鲍勃·费舍（BobbyFischer）生平的传记片《弃卒》（PawnSacrifice）。
　　鲍勃·费舍是美国国际象棋界的偶像级人物，他曾于1972年在冰岛首都雷克雅维克举行的国际象棋世界冠军挑战赛上，代表美国击败了前国际象棋世界冠军——苏联的鲍里斯·斯帕斯基（BorisSpassky）。
　　《弃卒》剧本由斯蒂文·奈特（StevenKnight）创作，制片人盖尔·卡茨（GailKatz）若干年前就开始为哥伦比亚公司筹划此片了，除他之外，传闻将主演该片的托比·马奎尔（TobeyMaguire）也将担任制片人。

　　君蝶是名色艺双绝的艺妓。其妹妙子与之相反，是京都市观光科的一名本分老实的办事员。姐妹俩的母亲阿菊原是当地一流的艺妓，后成为染色公司总经理渡边的小妾，渡边处于困境时，阿菊被迫牺牲了大女儿使之成为艺妓。年轻美貌的君蝶先是迷倒了美术商人笠间，接着又俘虏了速神丸本铺的总管山下。这时，妙子与同事孝次相爱，却因为遭到其母千代的反对而无法结婚。妙子的朋友雪子从东京回来，知道此事后，劝两人一起去东京脱离这个旧环境。然而孝次却没有离家独立的自信。君蝶为了报复千代，勾引了她的丈夫。千代前往指责却于事无补。遭到抛弃身败名裂的山下一怒之下用菜刀砍伤了君蝶。君蝶倒在病床上温柔地目送着妹妹和孝次远去的背影，低声哀叹自己的命运……
　　吉村公三郎被称为女性电影的大家，他一直致力于描绘二战后新时代的女性形象，本片就是他的代表作之一。影片以京都为舞台，这个昔日的国都在二战中没有受到战火的蹂躏，然而很多古老的陋习也跟随那些古老的建筑一同残...

　　改编自2018年泰国洞穴救援事件，讲述在泰国清莱省一个被洪水淹没的洞穴中，营救多名野猪足球队队员和教练的故事。
